About Allen Edwin Homes

Allen Edwin Homes is a regional production builder headquartered in Portage, Michigan. It began building in 1994 and now builds across Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. Company-wide, BUILDER Magazine ranked it No. 67 on the 2026 Builder 100 with 964 closings reported for 2025. It has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau since 2002 (currently rated A+) and received a 2026 GuildQuality Guildmaster Award for customer service.

Its footprint near Fort Wayne is small right now. The builder's Fort Wayne market lists a single community, Raccoon Run in Winona Lake, and its Northern Indiana market adds Eagle Crest in nearby Warsaw. Both are in Kosciusko County and the Warsaw Community Schools district, not in Allen County. Published prices start at $296,035 at Raccoon Run and $396,410 at Eagle Crest, every plan offered is from the value-focused Integrity Collection, and no model homes are listed for the Fort Wayne market. Earlier Allen Edwin communities in Fort Wayne (The Haven) and Huntington (Indian Ridge on the Wabash) no longer appear on its website.

Every Allen Edwin home is built to RESNET Energy Smart standards and HERS-rated by a third-party rater, something the company has done since 2010. Indiana homes carry a Residential Warranty Company warranty: builder coverage in years one and two, roof-system coverage in years three and four, and ten years of protection for major structural defects. Buyers can choose a move-in-ready home or build on an available homesite without a separate construction loan; the builder estimates about 3–4 months from mechanical start to completion.

What Sets Them Apart

RESNET Energy Smart Construction

Each home goes through third-party plan review, onsite inspection, and blower-door and duct-leakage testing, then receives its own HERS Index score. The builder's energy tool lists modeled scores from 59 (Integrity 2080) to 65 (Integrity 1830) for six of the plans offered in this area; the reference home scores 100, and lower is better.

Integrity Collection Floor Plans

All eight plans offered around Fort Wayne come from the Integrity Collection, the builder's most budget-focused line, ranging from 1,607 to 2,276 sq ft with 3 to 6 bedrooms depending on the plan and options. Finishes are chosen in two Design Studio appointments, and a virtual design tool lets you preview selections online first.

10-Year Third-Party Structural Warranty

Coverage is issued by Residential Warranty Company. Indiana's sample warranty covers specified items in years one and two, the roof system in years three and four, and major structural defects for ten years. Service requests go through an online form, with an after-hours pager for health or safety emergencies.

The Building Process

Allen Edwin Homes's proven 11-step process

1

Purchase Agreement

Sign the agreement with an earnest money deposit; all structural options are selected from the builder's catalog at this stage

2

Loan Application

Apply with your lender within 3 days of the purchase agreement; Allen Edwin recommends its preferred lenders, who know its process

3

Mortgage Approval

Aim for approval within 15 days of applying; your approval amount sets the limit on what you can spend at the Design Studio

4

Lot Transfer & Down Payment

Bring a cashier's check for the down payment and any lot transfer closing costs before your first Design Studio appointment

5

Design Studio

Two appointments to choose colors, finishes and options; once selections are finalized, no further changes can be made

6

Pre-Appraisal & Pre-Construction

If a pre-appraisal is needed, your lender has 30 days to complete it while the builder finalizes placement, plans, permits and materials

7

Authorized to Start

Your Production Manager schedules a New Home Review during the foundation stage and sends your first construction update

8

Construction

About 3–4 months from mechanical start to completion, with weekly progress updates from your Production Manager

9

Final Mortgage Approval

Your lender re-verifies employment, credit and bank statements; the Closing Team notifies you 14 days before your closing date

10

New Home Orientation

Walk through the finished home, its key systems and homeowner information before closing

11

Closing & Customer Care

Keys are handed over once the certificate of occupancy is issued and your loan funds; warranty service is requested online
